The Cecchetti
Method is an internationally reknowned Syllabus. Enrico Cecchetti
was himself a dancer, most well known for his Blue Bird from The
Sleeping Beauty. He was also an exceptional ballet master and taught
and coached famous dancers such as Anna Pavlova and Lucie Saronova.
CLASSICAL BALLET - CECCHETTI METHOD SYLLABUS
The Kindy/Pre-Ballet class is structured towards 3 to
5 year old working on imagination, co-ordination and musicality.
Ballet as such does not start till Pre-Primary.
Pre-Primary is structured towards the 5-6 year old student.
Primary is structured towards the 6-7 year old student.
Grade 1 - it is highly recommended that a student entered
for an exam at this level be 7 years of age.
Grade 1 - Grade 6
Students
wishing to enter Cecchetti Examinations from Grade 1 to Grade 6
must attend a minimum of two classical classes per week.
Major Examinations
For
Major exams students must attend a minimum of three classical ballet
classes and would benefit from a stretch class per week.
Pointe Work
This is for the student who has studied ballet for a number of years
and learnt the technical requirements needed before attempting pointe
work. The teacher will advice when the student is ready to progress
to this level in ballet.
Exams
Students
will only be entered for examinations when the Principal considers
they have reached the required standard of proficiency (some students
take longer than others to reach the standard expected by the international
examining body).
The exams taken are under the Cecchetti Society of Australia, which
is affiliated with an International Organisation with branches in
England, South Africa, Italy, USA and New Zealand. Students may
be entered for exams from Pre-Primary up through to the Major exams
of Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced.
Students wishing to continue further may then study for the Enrico
Cecchetti Diploma and/or their Associate teaching status.
